We aren’t conspiracy theorists, but we have to wonder if KTM/Husqvarna owner Stefan Pierer’s engineers aren’t handicapping the Husqvarna FC450 so it doesn’t perform better than the KTM 450SXF. If we were in Stefan Pierer shoes, we’d have the Husqvarna engineers on the hot seat explaining the mysteries of the choked-up airbox, faulty Magura component and ice-cream-cone restrictor. This is a great bike if you drill out the airbox, install a Brembo slave piston and add a slip-on muffler (or even borrow a restrictor-less FC250 muffler). Full test of the 2019 Husqvarna FC450.

If an older vehicle is safely operational (brakes, tires, suspension, lights, etc) but doesn’t have any of the new active systems, or say even stability or traction control, would it past muster to drive alongside your children on the road? I live in Indiana (no inspections of any kind) and see some really scary stuff as far as tires down down to cords, detached leaf springs on the highway, etc. I’m no more a fan of THAT kind of unsafe car than you are. Would I force a low income person driving an older car with a Check engine light off the road? No. Would I force operationally safe older cars that lack these active safety systems off the road? Absolutely not.
I would love a backup camera. In so many cars of this era it’s very hard to see out the back window, including my ’08 Civic. The general lack of visibility drives me nuts. I’d rather instead of various cameras and warnings, that the feds would mandate visibility. That would make driving more of a pleasure, as well as increasing safety.
Sometimes when the car was in park and the parking brake wasn’t used, the gear would slip into neutral and start rolling.
For initial EFI operation, FiTech recommends running the engine with its existing ignition system for ignition timing. Then, once the fuel side tuning has been finalized, then if the owner prefers, ignition control can be converted to the FiTech. This is a good plan because it minimizes the number of potential errors that could occur. That’s the next step for Buck’s ’56 but we just couldn’t wait so that will come later.
