It would be one thing if one could simply turn off all of this driver-assistance crap. I’d still resent paying for it but I could deal with being able to turn it off and having the default remain off even through key cycles. But most automakers don’t give you that option – at least not with everything. Most allow you to turn off lane departure warning/lane change assist. Most do NOT let you turn off automatic braking. Most also have the system turn back off after you turn the engine iff and then re-start the car. Subaru doesn’t let you turn anything off, which us why I’ll never buy another one.
20. Make no mistake; the 2019 Triumph Scrambler 1200 XE is the real thing. While the Scrambler 1200 line was born of the current Bonneville crop, its revisions may make it a similarly-styled cousin to them on paper—the utility, ease of use and fun of the Bonnevilles hasn’t been lost from the DNA. The Scrambler 1200 adds a genuine ADV-level of off-road capability, without compromising its on-road friendliness. The 2019 Triumph Scrambler 1200 XE took a beating on the road and off – leaving me impressed and effectively raising the bar for the scrambler segment.
3) Most of the ‘state imposed’ safety requirements have proven to be effective. Crumple zones, 3 point safety belts, head restraints, ABS and stability control have all either served to reduce collisions or traffic fatalities. Thus again reducing societal costs. And history has proven that left on their own, that many (if not most) auto manufacturers would not have made these features standard equipment. Not to mention the ‘cheating’ that some manufacturers have been found to engage in regarding ‘crash tests’. So ending government safety mandates is not a long term cost savings. Again requiring these features is a utilitarian necessity/benefit.
Chrysler argues there are no defects in the clutch systems and the seal swelling condition could affect only 16 percent of the Dodge Darts named in the lawsuit. The reason is allegedly because each car has clutch component parts that are manufactured differently.
A: Frequently conflate poor driving habits with safety assistance systems. B: Refuse to acknowledge that drivers who engage in bad behavior will do so regardless of the available safety assistance systems. C: Mistakenly believe that safety assistance systems somehow absolve folks of the responsibility and consequences of their own actions.
Following its launch, Water-Go-Round will undergo a three-month study period in San Francisco Bay, during which time Sandia National Laboratories will gather and assess performance data. CARB will use this data to assess the suitability of the technology for wider marine use.

Also that nice dark winding road usually had trees along the sides and it is amazing how strong a 6 inch tree trunk is.”
Wow you almost sound like a Ford rep. It seems pretty obvious Ford has a brake problem with the F-150 judging by JD’s quotes. I mean, Ford was forced by the feds to issue a recall for most of the 2011-14 F-150′s to address the brake failure issue, but it definitely looks like the exact same problem seems to continue to affect the 11-14′s that weren’t recalled as well as affecting the 2015+ trucks. I checked and he’s right, the master cylinder is the same part number between 11-14 and 15-18. And more F-150′s than ever use an auxiliary vacuum pump for the brake booster, which seems to be sucking brake fluid out of the system. There’s a pattern and you seem compelled to play damage control on Ford’s behalf.
The TV cable essentially replaced the vacuum modulator valve that was the load sensing device for the transmission. The cable moves the throttle valve in the valvebody and increases transmission line pressure as the throttle opens. This would appear to be a simple operation, and with stock components, it’s rarely an issue. But with aftermarket carburetors, EFI throttle bodies, and various linkage mounts, the opportunity for mistakes is rampant.
The most obvious application for such a system would be a vehicle with an engine and transmission behind the driver, as it would the use of a manual transmission without having to run a hydraulic line to the rear from the clutch master cylinder which is usually directly in front of the clutch pedal.
Every time you take your car in to a dealership for a repair or even a minor service, you get a receipt. Over 20 years, those receipts can pile up into a thick wad that you may be tempted to throw away. Don’t. Keep those receipts forever, especially if you plan to sell that vehicle at some point. My 1991 Jeep Cherokee’s incredibly detailed receipts are a great example why.
