Long charging times are still a major roadblock for electric cars, but Delta Electronics wants to change that. The company plans to test a new system that can add 180 miles of range to an electric car in just 10 minutes. General Motors is a backer of the project.
1. Transmission. Who wouldn’t want a transmission built by Formula 1 supplier Pankl?2. Cylinder head. The 15mm lower Husky/KTM cylinder head is a giant step forward in lessening cam twist. It also makes the bikes feel lighter in the air as the weight is lower in the chassis.3. Sound. The Husky is the quietest production 450. It was only 111.4 dB on the 2-meter-max sound test and 93.2 dB on amateur sound test.4. Weight. At 224 pounds, it is the second lightest 450 on the track.5. Electric starting. You can’t give credit to Honda, Yamaha and Kawasaki for having electric starting without giving credit to the bike that got there first.6. Radiators. The radiators are mounted 12mm lower on the frame, and the water capacity is up 20 percent.7. Handlebars. Every test rider liked the new ProTaper handlebar bend.8. Maps. Even though the black box is the same on the 450SXF and FC450, the two maps feel different. We were told that the black box was tuned to the FC450’s ice-cream-cone restrictor muffler, which explains why we liked the FC450 maps better than the KTM maps.
A couple of months ago, I went through hell to get my hands on a 1991 Jeep Cherokee. It was a manual with vent windows, and it had very little rust, so I would have done almost anything to take ownership of that rare machine.
1. Horsepower. It is obvious that Honda is over their “slow-is-better” phase. With 60.21 horses, it is an awesome engine from bottom to top.2. Ergos. Nothing feels as nice, comfy and well-laid-out as a CRF450.3. Electric starting. Ken Roczen dropped it for the weight, but we’ll keep it for the ease of use.4. Maps. We like the maps, but we always ran the stock one. The aggressive map felt crisper but actually gave up one horse everywhere.5. Handlebars. Lower is better. The oversize Renthal FatBars mean adios to 7/8th inch bars.6. Launch control. This is the first time that Honda added launch control. It is overly complicated but offers three different settings.
If there is a truck that will remind you of the classic box style back in the ‘90s then it would be the Syclone. The truck came with low ride height that made it unique as compared to the other pickups. This truck had a great performance; sprinting to 60 mph in 4.6 seconds something that was made possible by its turbocharged 4.3-liter V-6 engine.
Did you even read the article? —- GM hired Orbital ATK, a Virginia rocket science firm that determined the cause of Takata’s airbag explosions, to test its truck inflators. As of December, Orbital ATK had checked 648 GM inflators by simulating heat and humidity cycles, finding that they would perform as designed for 30 years, according to GM. The automaker said that in 4,907 more inflators tested in labs and in 63,000 airbag deployments on real roads, none of the truck and SUV inflators malfunctioned.
I want a mandatory safety system, integrated with the regular headlights-vs-DRL switch, the hazard light switch, rain sensor, sunlight sensor (the thing that normally biases the air conditioning/automatic climate control on sunny days), vehicle speed sensor, forward and aft looking radar, and a new left lane sensor. This device will either blast the driver with an annoying, deafeningly loud screech or better yet provide real time electro shock therapy to the driver’s seat any time the person:

Q: With regard to your recent comments about people preferring automatic transmissions to manuals, I agree most people prefer automatics for their convenience, but I suggest you also consider another reason to choose a modern-day automatic. I grew up driving manual transmissions, including a number of high-performance cars. I’ve also been to high-performance driving school, where I learned, and mastered, the heel-and-toe shifting technique. Even so, my recent purchases have been high-performance cars with automatics. Why? They shift faster than anyone can manually — professional or amateur — including matching revs on the downshifts. Lazy? No. I just prefer having a vehicle where performance potential is maximized.
Guess what Ken Roczen did to his works Honda CRF450 during the AMA Nationals? He had Honda remove the electric starter motor, battery, starter gear sets and wiring harness to save 5 pounds.
Our family’s old MPV Allsport used to chatter it’s way down hill in a most disconcerting fashion before we put snow tires on it. That was a case where having ABS disabled may in fact have helped snow accumulate in front of the skidding tire and slow the car eventually. But the correct lesson to take away was that a heavy 4WD vehicle needed snow tires to stop effectively in addition to being able to start and go.
It is supposed to help with steering and braking but in certain areas of the United States the sensors tend to corrode.
