The clutch system in a manual transmission is one of those components that doesn’t necessarily see much innovation. Every once in a while a manufacturer will do something big and wild with it, but it’s rare. Last time it was Porsche with the tiny carbon clutch in the Carrera GT – and now it might be General Motors with an electrically actuated slave cylinder, covered in a recently filed patent application.
After talking with Matt, I was able to get in touch with the truck’s owner, David Kostura, who confirmed Matt’s account, and sent me the photo above with the description “I’m heartbroken.”

But with an EPA-rated 150 miles of range, the Leaf is now outclassed by the likes of the Chevrolet Bolt EV, Tesla Model 3, and upcoming Hyundai Kona EV. So Nissan is working on a longer-range version with an even larger battery pack. Charging-station manufacturers will have to match the pace of developments like this in order to avoid obsolescence.
My Highlander has a “descent control” feature to allow the ABS to hold a vehicle on a slippery slope but it can only be activated under 20 mph. I have used it in winter conditions and it works well on (as an example) the county road that my school is located on that slopes down and empties out onto a state highway.
Nothing against GM, and I hope they get it dangerous issue fixed for real this time, but that is the most God awful picture of a Chevy. I have never seen a more hideous color or sick looking truck.
So you think it’s A-okay or moral to force a bunch of people’s paid-for older but functioning cars off the road and put them into debt because the only way you will feel that your family is adequately safe on the road is if everyone is driving cars with blind spot monitoring and whatever else? Get a grip man. The narcissism knows no bounds!
An odd thing occurred when at cruise. The rpm would occasionally spike very high for literally a microsecond. Candia said he’s seen this before and installed a shielded rpm sensor cable to help prevent its reoccurrence.
These safety systems make the road safer for some drivers, not all. I still have excellent vision and excellent situational awareness (along with many other drivers). I should not be be forced via regulation to use the same assist or “safety” features that someone with less driving skill or situational awareness has.
Plus, I know that, as of August 2016, my air conditioner worked thanks to a control switch repair. This is great, because I hadn’t even tried my AC:
The same deactivation technology is present on the optional 6.2-liter V8. Take note that the dynamic fuel management system is present because youâll never notice it in operation. Youâll forget it exists five minutes after you get in the Silverado.
The other problem is that these systems age and/or the tech improves (as well as repair costs). Our ’14 Odyssey’s forward collision warning falsed a lot towards the end of our time with it on lease. Yet, I never turned it off, because I figured one day it might save my butt or my wifes. But lane departure and assist gets turned off day one.
