“Although this is new technology for some companies, Perkins has been using this technology in off -highway machines for many years. In fact, we have powered more than 500,000 machines running on construction sites, all fitted with this type of aftertreatment.”
To set the WOT up-shift rpm on the 700R4, you will need a TCI kit like this one that offers stiffer springs to bring the shifts in at a later RPM. It’s a hassle, but it can be done.
10. High-pipes help complete the Scrambler look, and they serve a purpose. Modern Bonnevilles sound good, but this is the way the 270-degree crank parallel-twin’s tune was meant to be heard. Their size, along with the battery box on the opposite side, does bow your legs a bit when standing on the footpegs. However, that means squeezing the bike when riding off-road is incredibly easy. The high-pipes will tend to roast when sitting at stops; however, when the temperature dropped, and the rain came down, I was glad to have the extra heat.
Cylinder deactivation, while not a safety measure, also had a pretty terrible start with the old V4-6-8. While automatic shoulder belts in the late 80’s/early 90’s weren’t the beginning of seatbelts, it was a pretty horrid way to implement them in order to skirt airbag implementation.
Steering is a pretty big deal. Wonder if software update is the answer or the coverup? Hard to say with GM. It took at least 2 tries to get everyone’s ignition spring done to be sure it was correct. And don’t forget they actually sent notices to people who had already been killed by it to come in and get it fixed. Not that either should happen but ill take a seatbelt that might spark a little in an accident over intermittent steering. Posted by: Clint
Cummins has extensive experience with SCR technology since 2006 and has more than 1 million units in the field. To minimize total cost of ownership (TCO) for the operator, Cummins optimized diesel exhaust fluid consumption and aligned maintenance intervals of the aftertreatment with engine maintenance intervals for minimal planned downtime. Flexible installation arrangements also contribute to a decreased total cost of ownership, by reducing installation costs with eight different configurations to match almost any customer need, the company said.
I was under the impression that certain companies that worked with manufacturers could have their products covered under standard warranties (like Roush for example). With the introduction of these new safety systems, many of those same aftermarket suppliers were no longer able to provide that even on models that had been previously allowed to be covered under warranty (ie Tacoma/Tundra)
The system may seem like yet another method of of taking control away from the driver but, it may actually be a savior for the manual transmission as it could take away the mundane tasks of clutching in and out while in stop and go traffic while making it somewhat future-proof by bringing it into the network of modules that can be centrally controlled by one of the cars computers.
My takeaway isn’t AAA isn’t enthused about driver assist systems. In fact, in the conclusion of the article Brannon was quoted again: Brannon said that despite their shortcomings, the systems have great potential to save lives and stop crashes from happening.
The ZR2 owner told me he had installed LED headlights, LED fog-lights, a winch connected directly to battery power, and an electric lock for the tailgate.
GMC reps kept insisting that they are the company known for upscale, luxury trucks. I was unaware of that reputation, so I asked around, and sure enough, most people agreed: Yes, GMC is known for making luxury trucks. When I pointed out that the interior was not particularly luxurious even with the Denali niceties, they amended the answer to something along the lines of, Yes, well, GMC makes trucks that are more upscale compared to Chevrolet.
It gets a little hairy with these newer systems that are more complicated. The system may not electronically or mechanically damaged due to being lifted and yet still not work correctly. So, it’s anybody’s guess.
