1. Gearing. Last year, we switched the stock 48-tooth rear sprocket for a 49. For 2019, Yamaha adopted the “add one tooth on the rear” solution.2. Cheap R&D. Honda, Kawasaki, KTM and Husqvarna built new bikes; Yamaha changed the wheel spacers and fork lugs and made the biggest improvement they’ve made in years to the steering response. Thanks to the axle lugs, it doesn’t wiggle at turn-in.3. SSS. Yamaha has the best coil spring forks in the biz. Heck, they have the best forks, coil spring or air, in the biz.4. Reliability. Nothing is as reliable as a Yamaha YZ450F. It will last forever.5. Wi-Fi mapping. You can remap your 2019 YZ450F with your iPhone. We run the Travis Preston map. Ask those professionally involved in traffic investigations and they will confirm that they prefer to refer to ‘traffic accidents’ they are collisions and the great majority are avoidable and caused by driver error.
Nobody has answered the question, “What price do you put on a human life?” We know the stories about how allegedly accountants at Ford and GM did exactly that.
11. Triumph pulled out all the stops when it comes to braking on the Scrambler 1200 XE. Dual Brembo M50 calipers clamp onto 320mm floating rotors and, in the case of the XE, mates with a radial Brembo MCS master cylinder that features span and ratio-adjustment allowing you to get virtually any feel from the brakes you wish. The XE has extraordinary stopping power—it is the identical setup to the Street Triple 765 RS. In the rear, a dual-piston caliper works with a 255mm disc and is easily modulated. Additionally, the XE model has an adjustable rear brake lever.

A backup camera is essential for any vehicle that has poor visibility of the area 4′-8′ behind the vehicle. In essence, that covers every vehicle made today, what with their high belt lines and high tailgates. In trying to block the headlamp beams of following cars, nearly all visibility of anything shorter than about 4′ is essentially invisible. Worse, it is harder than ever to know exactly WHERE your ‘bumper’ is as you are backing, meaning you will stop ridiculously short of an obstacle (ever watch some people backing out of parking spaces?) or end up crashing into one because they were driving by ‘feel’. I’ve been driving my own new pickup truck for two months so far and still can’t estimate exactly where my front and rear corners are, relative to nearby obstacles. The rear-view camera ensures I don’t back into anything while I have a tendency to stop a full 2 feet short of where I THINK the front-end is. I’m still working on getting the overall ‘feel’ of this truck.

(2/tie) KTM 450SXF and Husqvarna FC450. We like that AER air forks can be set up for different conditions with just a few adjustments. We had no problems making Intermediate and Pro riders happy; the trouble arose with Vet and light riders. They complained about harshness at the end of the stroke. We feel this is due to the more rigid frame, as it made us go softer to get the same plushness we had with the 2018 chassis. In response, we ran lower air pressures, as low as 133 psi (stock is 154 psi), with the compression clicker between 25 and 35 clicks out. If that didn’t fix the harshness, we removed 10cc of oil from the damping leg only.

“As for the demeaning: âGet these awful poor people and their cheap/old cars off the roads and away from my precious children!!!â post. In Ontario we have strict regulations regarding vehicle safety inspections and police officers regularly pull unsafe vehicles off the road. And for a very good reason, if your vehicle is unsafe, it is putting everyone else on the road in danger. Much like driving impaired.”
