“[The airbag] should have went off milliseconds after the truck responded to the biggest rock that you do see in that video,” he said.
Working together provides an excellent opportunity for both Torqeedo and WhisperPower to excel in green propulsion systems."
My takeaway isn’t AAA isn’t enthused about driver assist systems. In fact, in the conclusion of the article Brannon was quoted again: Brannon said that despite their shortcomings, the systems have great potential to save lives and stop crashes from happening.
The two prototypes undergoing tests on the MTU test stand in Friedrichshafen feature an innovative new system. MTU has acquired the rights to this new technology from the G+L innotec company, and the partners will now be jointly developing the product. Market debut for the first engines with electrically assisted turbocharging is scheduled for 2021. “Electrically assisted turbocharging is a significant milestone on the road to hybridisation,” explained Dr Johannes Kech, director, Turbocharging and Fluid Systems at MTU. “This technology will allow us to develop engines that deliver increased agility and lower consumption at the same time as enhancing ecological performance,” he added. All this is made possible by using an electric motor to smooth out weaknesses in turbocharging systems.Linked to a conventional turbocharger, the electric motor ensures that boost is available when the engine needs it. This will eliminate delays in performance ramp-up according to MTU. In addition, MTU says that the system will help address another issue, as turbochargers are expected to achieve reductions in emissions by helping to prevent the generation of diesel particulates and nitrogen oxides during the combustion process. “With electrically assisted turbocharging we marry a conventional MTU turbocharger with an electric drive motor,” explained Joachim Thiesemann, who is responsible at MTU for integrating the new system in the standard turbocharger landscape. Special units mounted in front of the compressor wheel house permanent magnets, the rotor of the electrical unit, and the electrical winding that is integrated in the compressor casing. “The electric motor makes it possible to virtually decouple the operating point of the turbocharger from the speed of the diesel engine,” explained Rudi Rappsilber, who is in charge of testing the new system at MTU. The firm says that delays in performance ramp-up can be addressed, allowing optimum turbocharging to be achieved in almost every operating state. The technology can be implemented with existing turbochargers without excessive complications, while the additional installation space required is limited according to MTU.
The problem with the EPS would occur during low-speed turning maneuvers that would lead to collision.
Additionally, Philippines government has planned to increase the electrification rate of the country and in order to attain the goal, diesel gensets are being used for generation of electricity which would further escalate the growth of diesel genset market during the forecast period.
Not worth the cost. And aftermarket system might be the only option. But then why is what most owners will claim.
That would be great if you could simply not influence my by means of physical collision with your own car. Go build your own private limited access highway, and drive on it. I’m ok with that, you’re not putting me in danger.
Cummins said it is offering a pre-certified system — what is commonly referred to as Scheme A approach — to remove additional certification complexity from the equation for the shipyard. The Scheme A approach means Cummins has worked directly with an IMO-recognized agency to perform witness and emissions tests before the system arrives at the shipyard. The design is proven in the test cell to meet the emissions requirements and the various design configurations are all pre-approved.
I can’t wait to have a backup camera. My 2010 Highlander didn’t have one in the trim package that I have and the vehicle is far to elephantine for its own good. At least with a pickup I could see over the bed better than through the every shrinking windows on a CUV.
The worldwide market for Vehicle Diesel Engine is expected to grow at a CAGR of roughly -2.0% over the next five years, will reach 44000 million US$ in 2023, from 49600 million US$ in 2017, according to a new GIR (Global Info Research) study.
