My 2004 F150 had discs on all four corners along with ABS. You couldn’t stop on a slippery slope for love or money. The ABS would just slip-grip-slip-grip-slip-grip along.

This is the display screen for the Compu-Shift II 4L60E controller from HGM Automotive Electronics. This is just one of a dozen displays, and you don’t need a laptop to make changes. The display shows we were running at 62 m.p.h. at 2,157 rpm in 4th gear (A4), the transmission temperature was 189 degrees and the torque converter clutch (TCC) was engaged. The battery voltage was 13.1 volts and the transmission was currently delivering 42 percent of full line pressure (PRB).
The system may seem like yet another method of of taking control away from the driver but, it may actually be a savior for the manual transmission as it could take away the mundane tasks of clutching in and out while in stop and go traffic while making it somewhat future-proof by bringing it into the network of modules that can be centrally controlled by one of the cars computers.
(4) Kawasaki KX450. With the Kawasaki becoming the first Japanese-built motocross bike to update to hydraulics, we thought our KX450 clutch issues would be behind us. Not so. Our KX450 clutch squealed and faded, not because of the hydraulics but in spite of them. The hydraulics did not fix the shortcomings of the KX clutch. We not only replaced the clutch plates at abbreviated intervals but had to install stiffer clutch springs and remove the judder spring system to get full bite.
But the special experience is the 2.7-liter turbo. We drove the truck before we knew what was under the hood, and my guess was about a 3.0-liter turbo V6, or âone hell of a four-banger.â We didnât put a clock on 0-60 or freeway passing acceleration, but the engine was brisk, edgy, and ready to rock and roll at all times. The turbo four was also mated to the same 8-speed automatic and made good use of the gears. By comparison, the 4.3-liter V6 (which goes back to the late 1980s) with the 6-speed felt blunted and stodgy.
The engine also features an electric water pump to reduce drag on the power system. Overall, the 2019 Silverado with the 2.7-liter represents a 380-pound weight savings over the 2018 model with the V6, and 100 pounds of that is the weight difference between the engines.
jcw, I find the drivers aids in my ’17 Golf to be the least intrusive of any modern vehicle I’ve driven. And the backup cam is among the best I’ve experienced.

Having any vehicle you own just randomly rolling down the street without the driver in it can be a very dangerous situation. It can also be dangerous if a driver leaves a passenger inside and steps out and the car begins to roll. Chevy had that issue with their 2014-2015 Chevy Silverado and Suburban pickup trucks. According to Car complaints, the problem was the transfer case.
It gets a little hairy with these newer systems that are more complicated. The system may not electronically or mechanically damaged due to being lifted and yet still not work correctly. So, it’s anybody’s guess.
Different generations of the Chevy Silverado 1500 have had transmission issues along the way. Some of 2007-2013 Silverado transmission problems have included slipping out of gear while driving and going into reverse quickly or jamming sometimes. In some cases, the pickup truck doesn’t work at all.
